The project designs a more sustainable value chain for seed-based food commodities, by reducing lipid oxidation, insect damage, mould growth and mycotoxin production during transport and storage, while strongly reducing energy use.
The approach is to design new storage strategies and generate biochemical data on the molecular mechanisms behind quality losses.
With this more generic storage applications are envisaged and causal links between quality loss and chemical change can be predicted.
