Adaptation of pig and poultry production to heat stress.
Present husbandry systems are not adapted to the expected climate change, with periods of heat stress that compromise health and welfare of pigs and poultry. This project aims to better understand the physiological mechanisms involved, develop tools (biomarkers) to monitor animal well-being, and evaluate the efficacy of nutritional interventions on animal well-being, performance and nutrient utilization under heat stress conditions. This will improve adaptive capacity of future animal husbandry.
