Samenvatting

Aging is associated with a decline in functional abilities and loss of independence, but also an increased risk of co-morbidity. Sufficient protein intake in elderly, an increasing population worldwide, is thereto imperative but preliminary data shows that aging also gives rise to alterations in GI tract physiology. Within this project we will obtain insights to what extent and by which factors the actual digestion and absorption of protein is altered to be able to improve food interventions.
