Towards Sustainable Flower Distribution from Kenya – making the transition from air to sea freight
Most international flower transport is by airplane. To make the flower industry carbon neutral it is inevitable that the default transport modality has to be converted from air to sea. In this project we will investigate the physiological processes that are involved in flower supply chain performance including the contribution of different chain link conditions, and deliver improved protocols and dss models for transport mode choice leading to a cost effective and sustainable flower transport.
